Lucie Everett
Programs & Communications Coordinator
2022-present

“I am amazed to see Heart to Heart’s impact increase step by step, child by child, training mission by training mission. I am thrilled to be a part of implementing our program model and thus improving global health equity to build a better world—one plum-sized heart, one dedicated medical volunteer, one partner site at a time.”

Lucie joined the Heart to Heart staff at the beginning of 2022 as Program & Communications Assistant and was promoted to Coordinator in 2024. She provides support to senior program staff and, on site assessment and training missions, Lucie serves as an interpreter to facilitate communication between partner site colleagues and Heart to Heart teams, as well as to conduct interviews with patient families. She also helps to develop communications materials for individual donors, foundations, and other Heart to Heartniks to raise awareness and funds. Her day-to-day responsibilities also include managing our website and social media platforms.

Lucie began serving as a volunteer interpreter for Heart to Heart in 2016 and participated on three surgical-educational missions in Latin America. Since 2021, she has participated on five additional cardiac training missions. During Heart to Heart missions in Peru, Mexico, and Costa Rica, Lucie’s exceptional language and communication skills, matched by her cultural fluency and team spirit, earned the appreciation of Heart to Heart staff and medical volunteers alike.

Raised in a multicultural, multilingual household, Lucie developed a love for languages early on. She also grew up steeped in Heart to Heart’s mission, as her mother previously served as the organization’s executive director for over 20 years. Today, Lucie is fluent in English, Spanish, and French; she maintains intermediate level Mandarin Chinese and understands basic Arabic and Russian. (And she’s currently taking Afghan Farsi classes!)

Lucie graduated summa cum laude from Loyola Marymount University in the spring of 2021 with a Bachelor’s degree in Modern Languages (Chinese and French) and a minor in History. A highlight of her college experience was serving as research assistant to Alicia Partnoy, PhD, renowned author, activist, and professor.

Thrilled to work for an organization with such a meaningful mission, Lucie sees her position at Heart to Heart as an incredible opportunity to build a better world while actively striving to reach global health equity.
