Lucie Everett
Program & Communications Coordinator
2022–present

Heart to Heart’s impact—like our program model—is iterative. It’s incredible to see the progress, step by step, child by child, training mission by training mission. I am proud of what we do and how we do it. It’s my great honor to be part of something so meaningful!

Lucie officially joined our team as Program & Communications Assistant in 2022. Previously, she had volunteered as a non-medical interpreter on three missions to Latin America—two in Peru and one in Mexico. During these missions she had the privilege of observing open heart surgery and seeing Heart to Heart’s data-driven program model in action.

Year-round, Lucie supports our medical volunteers in implementing program development projects. She also oversees data entry from our Costa Rican colleagues and data analysis by our medical volunteers. She works with the executive director to organize this data into presentations for various stakeholders, to share our program development priorities. The longevity of her working relationships with many of them elevates her ability to connect the myriad moving parts that are required for a successful mission.

Since joining the staff team, Lucie has travelled on all 11 training missions to Costa Rica. As logistical lead, she coordinates, in Spanish, travel, lodging, and daily on-the-ground program activities. She continues to conduct and write up patient family interviews that give our donors a more personal sense of the value and the impact of our work. Lucie provides high level consecutive interpreting at meetings with hospital executive leadership and other important stakeholders.

Lucie graduated summa cum laude from Loyola Marymount University in the spring of 2021 with a B.A. in Modern Languages and a minor in History. Lucie acquired a sense of cultural fluency early on, growing up in a bilingual home and making many trips to Mexico and Guatemala as a child. She is fluent in French as well as Spanish, and maintains intermediate-level Mandarin Chinese and basic understanding of Arabic, Farsi, and Russian.
